A little bit about our worship services at Christ Lutheran
We follow a basic order of service that has been around for a long time, that has a cycle of readings and prayers and songs sung at certain times. In general, it follows this basic outline:
which is divided in seasons that have a special emphasis and color. The sanctuary is redecorated each season to match the colors. For example, Advent (the four weeks before Christmas) is blue, Lent is purple etc.
You can pick up a paper bulletin on the way in. If you need a large print, those are available right inside the double doors to the sanctuary in blue binder.
The books are in the pews and the page numbers are in the bulletin and on the board up front.
Families with kids come to our services and kids participate in a lot of the things we do - such as serving communion and helping out with the altar set up. Each week the pastor does a children's sermon before the Bible readings and the kids go out to "Godly Play", a sort of in-worship Sunday school for about 30 minutes. They come back to the service right before communion. There's some extra space in the back if your kids get too wiggly or you need to separate for a bit.
We serve communion to all Christians; you don't need to be a member of our church or denomination. Just come up and reeive a piece of bread from the pastor, all gluten-free, and then you'll be given a small cup that we will pour either wine or grape juice into (your choice). Nobody is required to take communion. \
There's room for walkers and wheelchairs. We also have a special audio hearing assist system available on request.
maybe a tad longer on special occasions
Built in 1956, our worship space has the conventional two rows of pews and the altar in front. The sides are stained glass, to help teach Bible stories and give a sense of holiness to the space. We hope you'll find it as warm and conducive to God's presence as we do.
